GMU Takes Part in ScienceCom 2024
On 29-30 November, ScienceCom 2024 - The ABC of Scientific Communication, a two-day event organised by the Experyment Science Centre, took place in Gdynia. The event aimed to develop the skills of students, researchers and secondary school pupils in the popularisation of science.
The ScienceCom programme comprised several key parts, such as a Science Festival, during which more than 200 students from Tri-City academic circles presented their achievements to the public. The event also included a Young Researchers conference, an expert panel, training for young people, and a networking session. The organisation of the event was supported by the ScienceCom Scientific Council, which includes representatives of Tri-City Universities, such as Gdynia Maritime University, Gdansk University of Technology, and the Polish Naval Academy, as well as scientific institutions, such as the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Participants attended interesting lectures, took part in workshops, and were presented with innovative solutions at the stands of student scientific circles from local universities, including Gdynia Maritime University. This year, GMU was represented by the student scientific circles Nawigator, SeaQuest, and Innovative Transport and Logistics Systems, MKŁ SZKUNER SP2ZIE UMG, SEANOVATION and Human Machine Interface (https://umg.edu.pl/en/scientific-circles). The GMU student scientific circles were supported by representatives from the Technology Transfer Office – Office Director Magdalena Kukowska-Kaszuba and innovation brokers Beata Wetoszka and Marlena Żur-Lewandowska, who presented Innovative GMU inventions at their stand.
The event included many interesting expert panels. Taking part in one of the panels were GMU representatives the Deputy Rector for Science, Dr Dariusz Barbucha, Dr Damian Bisewski from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Dr/Captain Grzegorz Rutkowski from the Faculty of Navigation and Dr Magdalena Kukowska-Kaszuba.
