1st Maritime Careers Fair a Big Success | Gdynia Maritime University

On 23 January 2025, the first Maritime Careers Fair took place in the T. Meissner auditorium on Gdynia Maritime University’s main campus. The event attracted a large number of students, drawn to the many interesting seagoing service opportunities and internships on offer at the stands of leading companies from the maritime industry.

The Maritime Careers Fair is a specially organised event aimed at students of all maritime degree programmes, particularly 2nd and 3rd year students. Each of the 16 shipping and maritime industry companies represented at the event provided interested students with information on its operations and employment opportunities. The many students who took advantage of the opportunity to speak to company representatives show that the first-ever such event held at GMU was a big success. The turnout exceeded even our wildest expectations, with a few hundred students of maritime degree programmes at GMU taking time out of their busy schedules to attend. The popularity and positive feedback we have received from the employers involved, as well as the students, means this first GMU Maritime Careers Fair will certainly not be the last.

The event aimed to bring together many companies offering work at sea, allowing students to familiarise themselves with many of these opportunities in a short space of time. ‘I would like to warmly thank all those who contributed to the success of the Maritime Careers Fair,’ announced Captain Dariusz Jellonek, the Director of the Maritime Operations Department, who was the initiator of the event.
