GMU Inventions Highly Regarded at "Cleverfood for Everyone" Exhibition
On 1 February 2025, the CLEVERFOOD for Everyone exhibition, created by experts from Ecsite – the European Network of Science Centres and Museums – opened at the Experyment Science Centre in Gdynia. The exhibition will last until 1 June 2025.
Experyment Science Centre in Gdynia was the only such centre in Poland where, during the open day, the public could take a closer look at the innovative solutions of GMU scientists in functional nutrition, management and quality science, supply chain shortening, and local food production.
The University was represented at the exhibition by members of staff from the Technology Transfer Office, Office Director Magdalena Kukowska-Kaszuba and innovation brokers, Beata Wetoszka and Marlena Żur-Lewandowska, as well as Dr Aneta Ocieczek and Dr Tomasz Pukszta from the Department of Quality Management at the Faculty of Management and Quality Science, representatives of the team responsible for the creation of an innovative type of bread.
The exhibition was inaugurated by an event entitled "The Breakfast of Champions", during which, in addition to a presentation on GMU's R&D-related services, there was the chance to sample the innovative so-called "Captain's Bread", as well as isotonic fruit drinks with unique ingredients and quality attributes. The GMU stall also provided information on healthy eating and solutions for the gastronomy industry.

As part of the event, participants had the opportunity to attend live cooking demonstrations by Hela Kłobucka, the winner of MasterChef Junior Poland 2022, and meet with scientists, dieticians, restaurant owners, and Experyment instructors. The programme of events also included an appearance by the Deputy Major of Gdynia – Oktawia Gorzeńska and the Director of the Eksperyment Science Centre, Alicja Harackiewicz, as well as three live cooking sessions,
As part of their exhibition, the GMU representatives gave interviews on the University's activities and innovative solutions, which attracted a great deal of interest from participants at the event. An interview was also given by Dr Aneta Ocieczek, together with Grzegorz Pellowski, the owner of Pellowski Bakery and Confectioners, who has begun cooperating with GMU in the introduction of "Captain's Bread" to the local market, to improve the health of both local residents and visitors to the area.
In addition to the innovative bread, visitors to the GMU stand were drawn by the chance to try isotonic drinks made with fruit from the agricultural holding of Dorota Marszk. The unique product, made using a simple recipe and guaranteeing the highest quality, was developed by a team led by Dr Joanna Newerli-Guz and received positive feedback from both connoisseurs of natural food products. The natural isotonic drinks, a new addition to GMU's functional nutrition portfolio, were developed in cooperation with local farmers as part of the 2014-2020 Rural Development Programme for Poland, "Healthy, Safe, and Local Foods Directly from Farms – an Innovative Organisational Model for Food Production and its Introduction on the Local Market," as part of the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture's Rural Areas Development (ARMR) Programme of Events for the years 2014-2020.
The honorary patrons of the "CLEVERFOOD for everyone" are the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Czesław Siekierski; the Pomeranian Marshall, Mieczysław Struk; and the Mayor of Gdynia, Aleksandra Kosiorek.
