GMU Inventions Presented at Warsaw Metaltech Technology Fair
On 21 to 23 January 2025, the GMU Technology Transfer Office took part in the 3rd Warsaw Metaltech Technology Fair in Nadarzyn. The University was represented by innovation brokers Beata Wetoszka and Marlena Żur-Lewandowska. During the previous edition of the event, the GMU team was nominated as an exhibitor in the category of "Innovation in Metal Processing", in which it promoted GMU inventions.
WARSAW METALTECH is an industry which brings together leading companies, technical experts, and practitioners connected with the sector in Poland and the entire region of Central and Eastern Europe. The fair is an excellent opportunity to establish business relations, present innovative technologies, and exchange knowledge and experience. The event provides a space where innovation meets practical needs and the industry's potential is used to the maximum.
The principal aim of taking part in the Metaltech Fair is the promotion of innovative solutions developed by scientists at Gdynia Maritime University. Brokers from the GMU Technology Transfer Office actively engage in contacts with representatives of the metalworking, tool-working, and material industries, as well as the metal and plastic machine-working industry, quality and measurement control, and industry health and safety, highlighting the enormous potential of our research and project results.
The two GMU inventions attracting the attention of visitors were:
- An Innovative welded surfaces finishing method and the appropriate tool - Dr Olga Łastowska, Faculty of Marine Engineering, and
- Development of technology for manufacturing a new sandwich composite using recycled rubber material - Daria Żuk, Dr Katarzyna Panasiuk and Norbert Abramczyk, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
Visitors were also introduced to other inventions from the University's technological portfolio, including the Batychron, an eight-channel HAT expansion device or nanochitosan modified polyurethane foam, as well as the University's R&D services and study programmes.
The University is open to establishing partnerships with companies and provides support for research, technological development and technology transfer as a means of increasing the competitiveness and innovation of its business partners.
